OWL Presents at ACTFL

OWL Featured in Two Presentations at Annual ACTFL Conference

PITTSBURGH (Nov. 13, 2008) - OWL Testing Software, a premier provider of affordable Web-based testing and assessment systems for academia, government, and business users announced today that its president and CEO, Mr. Chris Dalessandri, will present at the ACTFL 2008 Annual Convention and World Languages Expo, taking place Nov. 21-23, at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando.

Dalessandri will be joined by renowned foreign-language pedagogy expert and world languages consultant, Dr. Thekla Fall, for a lively and engaging discussion on Nov. 22 titled "OWL Software: Meeting Your Assessment and Data Collection Needs." The two will demonstrate how OWL software is used to test, rate, and collect data for speaking, writing, reading, and listening assessments. Attendees will learn the answers to common questions about how to simplify the administration of online language assessments, how to collect data for grade reports or grant proposals, and how to evaluate the effectiveness of techniques or program enhancements.

What's more, those who attend the OWL session may enter a drawing to win six months of free OWL hosted services (some restrictions apply). The prize package includes training and access to the OWL Community Library—a bank of customer-created test content, practice activities, and validated SOPI-type (Simulated Oral Proficiency Interview) tests. One winner will be able to create, administer, schedule, and rate online tests and activities for reading, writing, listening, and speaking in any language. The drawing will take place at the conclusion of the session and entrants must be present to win.

Besides leading his own session, Dalessandri will also join OWL customers Sue Cefola and Marsha Plotkin-Goleman from the foreign languages department at the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Their presentation, "Improving Language Programs through Online Assessment, Data Collection and Analysis," will focus on how Pittsburgh Public Schools creates and implements district-wide online assessments and practice activities with funding from three FLAP grants. This session will also review the software updates and provide participants with fascinating results from the data that has been collected and analyzed.
